Our commitment

This site is built to be usable by everyone, including people who navigate by keyboard, use a screen reader, need larger text, or prefer reduced motion. Accessibility was designed in rather than added afterwards.

The standard we build to

We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA. In practice, on this site that means:

• Every text and background pair is contrast-checked against the AA thresholds, and the palette was adjusted where it fell short rather than the requirement being waived.
• One clear h1 per page, with headings in a meaningful order.
• Every interactive control is reachable by keyboard and shows a visible focus outline.
• A “skip to content” link is the first thing a keyboard or screen reader user reaches.
• Form fields have real labels, correctly associated, and required fields are marked in the markup rather than only by colour.
• Meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
• Animation respects prefers-reduced-motion, and no content is hidden behind an animation.
• The site works, and remains readable, with JavaScript disabled.
• Tap targets on touch devices are at least 44 pixels high.

Known limitations

We would rather list these than claim the site is perfect.

• Some photography is temporary and its alternative text will improve when final imagery is in place.
• The site is currently published in English. A French version is planned.
