Hospital technology transformation, Matadi, DR Congo.
- Context
- Hôpital Public de Référence Secondaire de Kinkanda, a public referral hospital in Matadi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, operating with limited connectivity, French as the working language, and on premises infrastructure.
- Challenge
- Departmental records and billing were handled without a shared system, leaving no reliable institutional record and no way to produce consistent charges.
- Objective
- Introduce a health information system the hospital's own staff could operate and sustain after handover.
- Constraints
- Limited connectivity, on premises hardware only, multilingual requirements, and a wide range of user computer literacy.
- Services provided
- Institutional and workflow assessment, deployment planning, system configuration, French language localization, department specific workflow design, billing and service configuration, security and access planning, and backup and recovery preparation.
- Capacity building
- Hands-on training delivered on site for hospital staff, with documentation prepared in the working language.
- Sustainability
- Recovery procedures documented and rehearsed before handover, with access roles defined so the institution retains control of its own records.
